How to Join
The Maryland Burglar & Fire Alarm Association has three classes of membership: Regular, Associate and Honorary.

- Regular Membership: Regular membership is open to any business entity that meets the following requirements:
- Has as its primary business activity, the installation and/or servicing of electronic burglar and or fire alarms.
- Agrees to conduct their business in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the Association.
- Possesses a license from any Maryland jurisdiction, or any subsequent license recognized by the State of Maryland for the installation of electronic burglar alarms, fire alarms, and/or security systems.
- Pays all fees, assessments, dues and other obligations to the Association within thirty (30) days.
- And designates to the Association an individual who is a principal or employee of the business who shall exercise the member’s rights of membership.
- Associate Member: Associate membership is open to any individual or business entity that is committed to the objectives and purposes of the association.
- Honorary Membership: Honorary Membership may be offered to any individual who has demonstrated and significantly assisted this association in the furtherance of its purpose and objectives. Any member may recommend for Honorary Membership any individual to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors shall duly consider each such recommendation. Upon a favorable vote for Honorary Membership by the Board of Directors, the president or acting president shall nominate such individual at the next regular membership meeting. Upon an affirmative vote by a majority of those members present, a lifetime Honorary Membership shall be confirmed upon the nominee.
